Next Generation Surface Search Radar Technician
(NGSSR)
This position is Contingent upon Customer Approval
Purpose:
  • Valkyrie Enterprises has an immediate need for a NGSSR Radar Technician who will be key supporting shipboard radar systems in various shipyards in the Hampton Roads Area.
Job Description:
  • Maintain and troubleshoot shipboard radar systems in general, surface search and navigation radars.
  • Use preventative maintenance, use of technical documentation, parts support, training, technical reports and documenting maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
  • Use shipboard safety procedures including electrical safety, electrical tag-outs, working aloft procedures, hazardous material handling and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Apply basic Navy Logistics Support elements including configuration management, onboard allowance, and supply support.
  • Working knowledge of Change Requests & Engineering Change Proposals.
  • Apply basic specialized field knowledge in performing standard tasks.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, recognize problem through troubleshooting and find solutions.
  • Ability to choose the right mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problem.
Qualifications:
  • Must have a High School diploma or equivalent and at least 6 years of experience maintaining and troubleshooting shipboard radar systems in general.
  • Must be familiar with shipboard safety procedures including electrical safety, electrical tag-outs, working aloft procedures, hazardous material handling and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Must have working knowledge of Change Requests & Engineering Change Proposals.
  • Must be familiar with Navy Logistics Support elements including configuration management, onboard allowance, and supply support.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Prefer experience as an NEC Holding Technician or related Air to Surface Radar NEC.
Security Requirements:
  • Must have an Active DoD Secret clearance and the ability to maintain a clearance.
Travel Requirements:
  • Occasional Travel- less than 10%
  • If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information and repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Subject to outside environmental conditions (extreme cold/heat), subject to noise, vibration, hazards, atmospheric conditions (affect the respiratory system), frequently work in close quarters and/or function in narrow aisles or passageways (areas that could cause claustrophobia)

Pay Range: $64,480 - $83,200 per year
