As a Senior Maintenance UniversityInstructor,you will:

• Perform training, develop curriculum, and provide instructions to raise awareness and knowledge level critical to maintenance management or execution for support of material condition readiness of U.S. Navy surface ships of COMNAVSURFLANT.

A week in the life of a SeniorMaintenance University Instructor:

• Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to US Navy and civilian personnel on naval maintenance. Specific duties include the following:
• Participate in Maintenance University course development
• Provide training and effectively communicate with senior naval personnel and civilians on naval maintenance.
• Provide training in the use the maintenance assessment process, document assigned equipment conditions, ships force corrective maintenance, and track corrective maintenance assigned for accomplishment by third party activities.
• Provide training at the Senior Officer level, the Work Center Supervisor level, and Leading Chief Petty Officer (LCPO) level on Class Maintenance Plans (CMP), the use of the maintenance scheduling tool (SKED), Ships 3M Maintenance Program and provide guidance on how to plan for ship availabilities.
• Provide process improvement recommendations to Surface Type Commander Staff (TYCOM)

• 20 years of direct experience or a Bachelor's Degree and 12years of experience.
• The candidate shall have had held the rank of O4 LDO, CDO or above of on at least one United States Large Deck Amphibius Ship such as LHD, LHA, LPD, LSD or CVN.
• Demonstrated two (2) years recent (within last five (5) years) experience with shore management programs for surface ship maintenance, to include the roles of Port Engineers, Availability Work Package Managers, Type Desk Officers, and Type Desk Assistants.
• Demonstrated two (2) years experience conducting technical briefs at the Senior Officer level, ship's wardrooms, and ashore maintenance managers.
• Demonstrated strong communication skills; ability to communicate with senior naval and civilian personnel in a naval environment.
• Experience in providing process improvement recommendations to TYCOM staff on maintenance and leadership areas.
• Working knowledge and recent (within last three years) experience with current Fleet maintenance policies, processes, programs, and initiatives.
• Experience in shore management programs.
• Experience in a shipboard officer leadership role in material condition readiness.
• Recent experience (within last five years) conducting technical briefs at all levels of shipboard and ashore maintenance leadership.
• Active Secret Clearance

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary/hourly range for this position is 85,000 - 90,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
