STV is currently searching for an Entry-Level Engineer or Scientist to join our Water Resources team in Owings Mills, MD or Virginia Beach, VA. Candidates graduating in May 2024 are encouraged to apply. In this role, you will work closely with engineers and project managers on the planning, design and implementation of drainage improvements, stormwater management, erosion & sediment control and eco-restoration projects.

This position provides the opportunity to apply innovative techniques for design and construction of storm water systems for transportation and public works clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with preparing technical reports, narratives, development applications, engineering drawings, submittal documents, and response letters

  • Analyze and design storm drainage systems and stormwater management practices

  • Design erosion and sediment control practices

  • Perform Hydrologic and Hydraulic analyses

  • Develop engineering designs and work effectively with MicroStation and GIS software

  • Develop Erosion and Sediment Control, Drainage, and Stormwater plans and details

  • Perform inspection and assessment of constructed stormwater management practices

  • Complete permit applications for state and local agencies

  • Utilize general engineering principles and practices daily

  • Develop construction cost estimates

  • Prepare engineering documents for advertisement and construction

  • Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline, within the assigned budget, and with the established quality

  • Conduct field investigations and provide field support as needed for design parameter development, and during construction for oversight and construction quality assurance purposes

  • Evaluate field data; perform calculations; prepare engineering reports, designs, cost estimates, and comprehensive schedules; and develop progress tracking reports

REQUIREMENTS:

  • B.S. / M.S. in Civil or Environmental Engineering preferred, with a focus on designs involving environmental and civil applications.

  • Entry level position, experience in civil engineering a plus

  • Experience with computer applications and civil engineering design software such as MicrosStation, InRoads or ArcGIS in a professional or academic setting.

  • Familiarity with reading construction plans.

  • Relevant experience or coursework in hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and design software preferred.

  • Familiarity with Storm Drain Modeling and Rational Method Hydrologic Calculations or Open Channel & Detention Basin Modeling and Design.

  • Experience researching design standards and permit requirements.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Familiarization and experience with Microsoft Project resourcing and scheduling and construction management skill sets a plus.

  • Excellent verbal, writing, and computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Compensation Range:

$65,343.00 - $85,392.00
