We are currently seeking a Civil Engineer to support our growing team in the Virginia Beach area.

Position Summary

As a Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for working on exciting and engaging land development and infrastructure projects in a hybrid work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Ability to work with project teams and/or independently on all aspects of projects including project set-up, drafting, design, quality review and quality assurance, project coordination/organization, etc.
• Prepare and design improvement plans for a wide range of projects.
• Prepare and modify construction documents, reports, specifications, and designs for the project.
• Analyze maps, reports, drawings, as-builts, and test results for design projects.
• Assist with post-design construction support services to respond to RFI's, submittal reviews, as-built preparation, and field observations.
• Work alongside office staff and management to successfully complete projects within the established budgets and deadlines.
• Conduct site inspections

Required Skills/Abilities

The qualifications for the Civil Engineer role include:

• Land Development experience
• Proficient AutoCAD/Civil 3D
• Understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic processes
• Knowledge of Stormwater Management Design, Erosion, and Sediment Control Plan Design, and associated Environmental Permitting Services
• Knowledge of Civil Engineering principles and techniques with reference to construction materials, methods, and procedures
• Ability to pass a criminal background check.

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor's Degree of Science in Civil Engineering
• 4+ years of full-time, relevant land development engineering experience

Certifications/Licenses

• Eligibility for or in possession of Professional Engineers License in Virginia

Physical Demands

The incumbent in this position can typically expect to sit and use his/her hands to handle and feel for more than 2/3 of the day. He/she can expect to stand or walk for more than 1/3 of the day. Talking and listening are also expected for more than 2/3 of the day. The ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, or reach with arms will be needed for less than 1/3 of the day.

This position requires that the incumbent be able to lift items up to 10 pounds on an infrequent basis.

The incumbent in this position should have clear vision at 20 inches or less. He/she should be able to view various reports and forms as well as information displayed on a computer monitor and have the ability to distinguish between different colors. Depth perception, peripheral vision, the ability to focus, and the ability to see from a distance are also necessary.
