We are hiring a full-time Advisory Systems Administrator to support the Operational Test and Evaluation Force (OPTEVFOR) Cybersecurity Directorate. In this role, you will have a direct impact on the success of a high-profile DoD program with Congressional mandates for the national security of DoD systems by collaborating on requirements with Cyber Security peers and government counterparts. Responsibilities
    Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization.
  • Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues.
  • Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure.
  • Perform regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedure.
  • Maintain Microsoft Domain environments with monthly patching and update cycles.
  • Maintain Red Hat Linux environments with monthly patching and update cycles.
  • Maintain VMware environments with monthly patching and update cycles.
  • Maintain storage archival schedule and processes IAW mission needs.
  • Support the life cycle of hardware and software procurement and deployment.
  • Support the writing and review of technical documents related to the deployment and maintenance of systems.
Education/Qualifications

Required:

  • Active U.S. Department of Defense Secret clearance with eligibility to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree or international equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field ~OR~ work equivalent and a High School Degree.
  • 10+ years of systems administration experience.
  • Up-to-date SECNAVM 5239.2 compliance required (e.g. Security + or IAT level II equivalence).
  • Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools.
  • Must have experience with the following:
    • VMWare
    • Red Hat Linux
    • Microsoft Windows and Server
    • Enterprise Storage solutions - NAS/SAN
    • Networking concepts/analysis
    • A solid understanding of Virtualization Concepts
    • Applying security updates via compliance with DISA STIGS and/or IAVMs
  • Ability to troubleshoot network connectivity.
  • Ability to lift equipment up to 50 lbs.

Preferred:

  • System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields.
