Sentara Health is hiring a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist for Sentara Obici's Emergency Department in Suffolk, Virginia!

Status: Full Time (40 hours)

Work hours: Evening shift from 1300-2130. Will work every third weekend (Sat and Sun).

Job responsibilities:

Manages patient drug therapy in accordance with the medical staff approved clinical practice standards. Maintains current knowledge of drug use through continuing education. Serves as the primary resource for drug information within the hospital. Assures the appropriateness of all physician medication orders. Precepts pharmacy students as assigned.

Required qualifications:

  • Three years Pharmacist experience of experience REQUIRED

  • For candidates who do not have three years pharmacist experience, may substitute a PGY-1 residency program PLUS one year of experience or completion of a PGY-1 and PGY-2 residency program. (Each year of residency is equivalent to 2 years of experience)

  • Virginia Pharmacist license REQUIRED

  • BLD - Bachelor's Level Degree REQUIRED

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) REQUIRED within 6 months of hire

  • Will consider new graduated pharmacists and pharmacists not licensed in Virginia/NC due to relocation. Must have Virginia or North Carolina (applicable to location) license within 90 days of Sentara start date.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Prior hospital experience strongly preferred.
