Job Description

Job Summary:

As an Internal Communications Senior Specialist, you will contribute to a variety of internal communication projects and efforts to assist in advancing the goals and strategies of the firm. In addition, this role may partner with a BDO business line to help develop and execute powerful communications that manage change, create engagement and drive a positive and productive organizational culture to help the practice achieve its vision and drive its transformation program.

Job Duties:

  • Firmwide communications:
    • Supports the development and execution of engaging communications plans that drive awareness of key firm initiatives and campaigns and inspire professionals to take action
    • Researches and writes impactful and engaging content for internal news site and edits the work of team members
    • Proactively identifies news across the firm by seeking opportunities to engage members of the BDO community
    • Leverages a variety of communication channels, including but not limited to the intranet, email, an internal social media platform, voicemail and video
    • Assists in promoting engagement and adoption of the firm's various communication vehicles
    • Brings innovative ideas to create or enhance internal communication channels and processes
    • Contributes to and assists with other internal communication projects, as needed
  • Business line communications:
    • Utilizes change communications best practices to ensure a steady drumbeat of communications with a cohesive narrative, identifies and segments audiences with unique messaging, and delivers a multi-channel communications approach
    • Works closely with business line teams to understand their needs, vision, goals and challenges, becoming a trusted advisor and valued resource
    • Includes participating in key planning and status update meetings
    • Supports the development and execution of strategic communications plans that promote engagement across individual areas of change but also work in concert to promote the business line's vision and facilitate adoption of new processes, technologies and ways of working
    • Develops communications, including but not limited to talking points, emails, voicemails, videos, presentations and internal collateral materials
    • Leverages internal change champions at the local level by supporting them with actionable communications and resources
    • Works with stakeholders to continuously assess progress made against goals and adjust strategy and plans accordingly
    • Brings awareness to the changes and progress underway in the business line and connects them to the firm's transformation efforts and other business lines, as applicable
    • Promotes the successes of the business line across BDO
    • Introduces new and updated services to educate professionals on all offerings

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required, major in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, English preferred

Experience:

  • Four (4) or more years of strategic internal communications, journalism, marketing, or public relations experience required
  • Prior experience working in a professional services environment, preferred

Software:

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, required
  • Advanced knowledge of Word and PowerPoint, preferred
  • Knowledge of SharePoint and OneDrive, preferred

  • Exceptional project management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an understanding of AP style guidelines; active listening skills; solid editing skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Capacity to effectively manage evolving priorities, multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Knowledgeable about emerging communications trends and tactics
  • Ability to take complex thoughts and synthesize them into clear and concise communications for a variety of audiences
  • Experience with change management principles

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.
National Range: $70,000 - $95,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $70,000 - $95,000
