Job Duties:


Provide executive level support to a Vice President of Business Development, and direct reports as needed, as the Team sets strategies and implements tactics to identify, propose on, and win large government contracts; builds large partner/sub-contractor based teams; develops marketing & branding messaging and communications; and assists in business acquisitions research and analysis. Located in Serco’s Reston, VA, headquarters office, responsibilities include:



  • Manage and direct administrative work flow across the Team, and interact and collaborate with peers and team members to understand and improve work flow and processes
  • Participate in the administrative support of business development, proposal, and capture process including conducting research, organizing materials, preparing and editing documents, planning meetings and events
  • Oversee budget and related financial transactions - invoices, billing, internal charges, etc.
  • Coordinate conference calls, meetings, events, and appointments
  • Collect and organize data for, and create effective presentations to Serco leadership, customers, and teaming partners
  • Screen calls and correspondence from vendors and solicitors, and direct to appropriate sources for possible consideration; pursue and follow up as required
  • Interact and work with other functional HQ groups (Finance, IT, HR, General Counsel, Communications) on cooperate initiatives as needed
  • Arrange travel with corporate travel agency, reconcile individual corporate credit cards statements, and submit executive expense reports
  • Other tasks as required

Required Skills


Skills, Experience, and Attributes:



  • 10+ years executive administrative experience, preferably with a federal services / government contracting company; knowledge of federal contracts and government proposal (FAR, DFAR, SBIR, CRADA) experience required
  • Demonstrated proficiency with all components of MS Office Professional Suite, to include extensive knowledge of and familiarity with MS Outlook Calendar
  • Demonstrated experience relative to the job duties outlined above, especially related to organizing work across teams, helping to create proposals, and responsibility for financial activities and recordkeeping
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to successfully address both scheduled and unscheduled tasks, assigning priority to conflicting needs; process-orientation, strict attention to detail coupled with an intolerance for errors, and the ability to organize the activities required to manage and support a fast-paced, dynamic Business Development organization
  • A can do attitude, strong sense of urgency, and demonstrated problem-solving, self-management, and self-motivating skills
  • Decision-making and judgment skills that demonstrate credibility
  • Bachelor degree, MBA, military background, active security clearance all plusses (must be willing to obtain a government security clearance including background and credit investigations)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to share information accurately and effectively with all levels of the organization, with teaming partners and subcontractors, and with vendors and solicitors. Editing skills a must

To actively and fully support the needs of the assigned BD Team this position requires the ability to work a schedule commensurate with the demands of the organization, including scheduled and unscheduled overtime (evenings and weekends possible). Travel may be required depending on the expansion of role.
